Two Event Saturday

Sat., March 4 – Narrow Lane Cleanup. 8AM-9AM. Help STPS clean up litter from our adopted road. Meet on Narrow Lane and east corner of Norris Lane. Bring gloves. Free 2023 Membership to new volunteers.

Sat., March 4 – Whiskey Hill. 10AM-11AM Meet at the end of Mill Path off Lopers Path (heading east), Bridgehampton. Moderately-paced, 1.7 mile hike with ocean views from top of moraine with kettlehole ponds and an enormous glacial erratic along the way. Leader: Jean Dodds, 631-599-2391.

Sun., March 5 – “The Swamps of North Sea”. 10AM-Noon. Meet at Elliston Park entrance on Millstone Brook Road, Southampton. Loop around the Big Fresh alewife drain, then Paumanok Path eastbound diverting to the Great Atlantic Cedar Swamp. If there is interest we can go to another seldom visited cedar swamp, total 2 to 3 miles. Tick protection recommended. Leaders: Hilary & Eric Woodward, 631-903-7895.

Sat., March 11 – Tuckahoe Hill. 10AM – Noon.  Meet at the kiosk on Sebonac  Road 1/3 mile east of Tuckahoe School. Moderately-paced 4 mile hike with amazing views of Cow Neck and Robins Island. Leader: Tim Corwin, 631-204-7821.

Sun., March 12 – Penny Pond Loop. 10AM-Noon.. Meet on Red Creek Rd. about ¾ mile from Rt. 24. Follow the blue trail.

Views of Penny Pond about 4 miles. Flat terrain. Leader: Liz Karpin, 516-320-0761.

Fri., March 17 – Take a Hike in the Long Pond GREENbelt. 10AM-11AM. Meet at the parking lot of Mashashamuet Park in Sag Harbor. May you have warm words for a cold day on this St. Patrick’s Day  ─ with a blessing and a poem in memory of Joe Lane on this easy-paced journey through a portion of the superb Long Pond Greenbelt, including Long Pond and Little Long Pond, Leader: Dai Dayton, 631-745-0689.

Sat., March 18 – Wickatuck Woods and Hills, 10AM-12:30PM. Meet at Trout Pond, Noyac Road. Moderately-paced 4.5 miles with views of Little Peconic, Noack Bay and Jessup Neck. See 2nd largest erratic on the East End.

Sun., Mar. 19 – SYS to Long Springs. 10AM-Noon. Meet at Southampton Youth Services (SYS), 1370A Majors Path, Southampton. Join us on a beautiful moderately-paced 4 mile hike where we will learn about invasive plant species on Long Island and what we can do to help. Leaders: Chris Cole & Kate Rummel. 516-702-8172 or 551-206-8123..

Two Event Saturday

Sat., March 25 – Dancing with Daffodils. 10AM-12:30PM. Meet at the Elizabeth A. Morton Wildlife Refuge. 2595 Noyac. Road, Sag Harbor. Join us to celebrate our annual rite of spring in memory of Joe Lane. Moderately-paced beach walk along Jessups Neck. Don’t miss it! The Refuge suggests a $4 entry fee per car. Sat., March 25 – HOT trail ride across from Longwood Estate. Leg up promptly at 12 pm. Must be STPS member, can sign up day of ride. Helmets required for insurance purposes. Sun., March 26 – Camp Tekakwitha. 10-12:30 pm. Meet at Red Creek Park. Beautiful views of Peconic Bay with a little beach walk. About 4.5 miles. Some hills. Leader: Liz Karpin, 516-320-0761.

Cancellations: From time to time, there are weather-related cancellations caused by rain, heavy snow, or icy trail conditions. To avoid any inconvenience, please contact hike or event leaders to confirm that the event is taking place.

Horses On Trails Ride: Members are encouraged to schedule and lead rides on their favorite trails. Choose a date and a time. BYO horse. Call with ideas or to see what’s on the schedule. Must be a member of STPS/HOT to participate due to insurance requirements. It’s easy to join on the day of the ride! Leader: Leslie Lowery. 631-603-8661.
